Wren Kitchen will create 300 jobs

Wren Kitchens will open one of Europe's largest quartz countertop processing centres, creating 300 new kitchen jobs.

The 150,000 square foot Scunthorpe North site will satisfy the "unprecedented" demand for reasonably priced quartz stone countertops. It will complement Wren's existing quartz manufacturing facility in Barton-upon-Humber.

The kitchen expert renovated the former DHL facility in the Foxhills Industrial Zone in Scunthorpe and officially started using high-tech computer machinery worldwide to manufacture quartz stone countertops in July 2021.

The new quartz factory will be fully operational in December 2021, and recruitment will continue throughout the year.

Wren Kitchens UK manufacturing operations director, Kes Serelis, said: “We’ve reinvested back into our business to create this new state-of-the-art facility which is required to cope with our increased demand for fabricating high-quality quartz worktops for our customers across the UK.”

He added, “It will create a significant number of manufacturing and support job roles for the region such as machine team leaders, compliance officers and manager jobs.”

“It will be the largest quartz fabrication site in Europe, and we will be utilising the most sophisticated machinery in the industry such as robotic CNC saws.”

Wren currently has three manufacturing sites across North Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, and this will be its second site in Scunthorpe.

It has developed a quartz storage warehouse at its headquarters in Barton-upon-Humber and five brand-new quartz delivery depots across the UK in Gateshead, Watford, Thurrock, Basingstoke and Exeter.

To transport the quartz, Rennes has its own double-deck A-frame truck to fix the quartz during transportation. In addition to this news, Wren's new kitchen manufacturing and assembly plant at its headquarters in Barton-upon-Humber, which cost 120 million pounds, is progressing rapidly. This will create a further 900 new jobs for the region. The one million sq ft site will open by summer 2022.
