The University of Gloucestershire have moved up to 3rd place out of 143 Universities in the People and Planet Green League Table 2013.
The league table, published today, measures a number of factors, showing outstanding results for the University on both its policy and performance.
This reflects the excellent progress made at the University including a 25% reduction in our direct carbon emissions since 2005, huge increases in the availability of Fairtrade products due to our Sustainable Food Policy and the continuation of our cutting edge work in Education for Sustainability.
Professor Daniella Tilbury, Director of Sustainability said: “We are pleased to see our commitment and actions rewarded with a ‘First Class’ by People and Planet. Our commitment runs deep and is visible in our classrooms, our canteens and community engagement work. University staff identified sustainability as one of its core lived values which explains why the University of Gloucestershire remains the only university to have retained a top 5 position in the Green League since the rankings began.”
