Saturday 17 March-Friday 23 March, 10am until 5pm, Unit 3, Beechwood Shopping Centre, 123 High Street, Cheltenham, GL50 1DQ.

Students at the University of Gloucestershire are capturing life through a lens with a photographic competition and exhibition.

Featuring landscape, sports and portraiture categories, all competition entries will be displayed at the Social Documentary Photography Exhibition, where the public will then be asked to vote on their favourite by filling a voting card provided at the venue.

So far there have been more than 50 entries and following a private view on Friday 16 March the exhibition will open at 10am on Saturday 17 March at Unit 3, Beechwood Shopping Centre in Cheltenham High Street, continuing until Friday 23 March. It will be open from 10am until 5pm.

Sponsored by Beechwood Shopping Centre and The Darkroom UK Ltd, the winner from each category will receive a £50 shopping voucher for the Beechwood Shopping Centre.

The exhibition is organised by third year students Yoyo Cheung, Hilary Lester, Jessica Southam and Josie La Torre, who specialise in Mass Communications, Photojournalism and Documentary Photography.

Yoyo said: “The competition is a great opportunity to showcase the work of students outside the University and encourage the public to get involved and choose their favourite piece of work. The winner will be announced at the exhibition at 4pm on Friday 23 March.”
