The Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury annual Classic Car Run, now in its 17th year, takes place on Sunday 24 June 2012.

Sunday Morning in Chipping Sodbury, visitors and residents enjoy the classic car run.

Last year’s event was the most successful ever with 171 vintage, classic and rare models taking part. £7335 was raised enabling Rotary to continue with their support of local groups, individuals and charities. (2) Since 1996 the club have raised over £65,000 with all proceeds donated to various charities including the RNLI who prepare breakfast at the event for entrants and spectators.

This year’s 80-mile route starts in the medieval market town of Chipping Sodbury and takes par-ticipants through parts of South Gloucestershire, and the picturesque landscape of Wiltshire before a coffee stop near Bradford-on-Avon at the half way stage. The run ends at the very famous Castle Combe Racing Circuit (by kind permission of the circuit along with Bristol Motor Club).

Entry is open to any pre-1985 cars, motorbikes and light commercial vehicles and entrants are en-couraged to wear period costume. 2011 entrants included; a 1933 Bentley, 3.5ltr Sports Saloon; a 1935, Austin 10 Ripley Sport; a 1936 Alvis Speed 20 SD; a 1969 Jaguar E Type Ser II OTS; a 1937 Fiat 500 A Topolino; a 1960 Velocette, Viper MSS; a 1951 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster; a 1951 Singer 9 4AB Tourer as well as an array of MGs, Triumphs, Fords, Alfa Romeos, Morris, VW’s, Kawasaki, SuzukiŠ.ŠŠ

On the day vehicles begin to arrive in Broad Street, Chipping Sodbury at 7.30am and set off between 8.30am and 10.30am (3) giving residents, visitors and enthusiasts plenty of opportunity to meet and talk to owners and to enjoy this wonderful spectacle.
