A new Nike Unite store will launch later this year at the previous DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse property at 910 Ellsworth Drive.
An on-site worker verified the launch, stating that the store in the Downtown Silver Spring development will open “sometime this year,” but did not provide a particular date.
The employee also mentioned that a Nike Unite outlet had recently opened in Fairfax, Virginia.
Nike Unite, first unveiled in late 2020, is a new retail concept for the Beaverton, Oregon-based firm.
The company said: “Nike Unite exists to serve and celebrate the people in each local community, and each store is designed to be a reflection of their heart and spirit.”
“Consumers are welcomed by an in-store community wall highlighting the store team and local partnerships, and design elements throughout the space also look to tell the story of the community.
The design allows local inhabitants to feel represented in the environment, from local landmarks to hometown athletics.”
The items in each Nike Unite door represent what the community is looking for: locally chosen, everyday basics at the greatest price, along with the freshness of select seasonal offers.
Furthermore, Nike Unite doors indicate Nike’s commitment to recruiting individuals from the neighborhood.
DSW is in the process of moving to Ellsworth Place and plans to open in the “early fall.”
The owners of Ellsworth Place, Brentwood, Tennessee-based GBT Realty, stated in January this year that the bargain shoe shop signed a lease in late 2021, with construction started to remodel the old Guitar Center location on Level 4 of the mall.
