Kroger is extending its delivery network by opening a new fulfillment center in Nashville, which will create 180 jobs.
The new 40,000-square-foot building will be an expansion of Kroger’s robotic fulfillment center in Atlanta, Georgia.
The facility will provide employment to Middle Tennessee, bolstering the grocer’s already substantial presence in the region.
Kroger was Nashville’s tenth-largest employer in 2021, with 7,813 local employees.
The state economic and community development commissioner Stuart McWhorter said: “Tennessee’s unique position offers companies easy access to their customers and suppliers around the globe, so we believe Nashville will be the ideal location for Kroger’s newest cross-dock facility.”
Tennessee State Senator Brenda Gilmore added: “Kroger’s investment with Ocado Solutions could mean more efficient next-day and two-day deliveries for online grocery shoppers in Nashville.”
“This new convenience, coupled with more than 180 new jobs at a high-tech fulfillment center, will be a great addition to our community.”
This news comes on the heels of the state’s recent hiring of Toast’s logistics center.
No information on incentives was immediately made public following the Kroger announcement.
