Häns Kissle investment creates 219 new jobs in $42 million investment in Gaston County

Food manufacturer Häns Kissle plans to create 219 new jobs by investing $42.2 million to build a manufacturing facility in Gaston County.

The facility will produce ready-to-eat food for the company to be sold in grocery stores.

The 100,000 square feet facility is to be located at Apple Creek Corporate Center west of Dallas.

Executive Director of Gaston County EDC, Donny Hicks said: "It's pretty exciting. They're a good company, and they're going to build a beautiful facility and also create a good number of jobs.”

He said: "It's also another food project. We have a growing food cluster here, and I think we have seen more food projects look at the county than we have seen in a long time."

The county collaborated with the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the state's corporate recruitment agency, to bring Häns Kissle to Gaston.

Overall, the new jobs' average annual salary matches Gaston County's average yearly wage of $42,018.

The initiative is expected to boost the state's economy by $599 million over the next 12 years.

The project has the potential to generate more than $9.2 million in annual payroll.

In 1984, the firm began as an in-house commissary for a premium Massachusetts supermarket chain, and it currently creates a 700-item menu for a wide spectrum of retail clients.
