Google Hires Former Amazon Executive to Work on Machine Learning

A former executive at Amazon.com Inc. who worked on the Alexa voice assistant has joined Google jobs as a vice president.

Alex Spinelli recently joined Alphabet Inc.'s Google after leaving LivePerson Inc., a company that creates chatbots to help businesses connect with customers. Spinelli came to LivePerson from Amazon's Alexa unit, where he worked on the software that powers the e-commerce company's digital assistant.

In May, LivePerson announced a collaboration with Google Cloud to integrate tools aimed at increasing the efficiency of contact center agents. Spinelli is involved in a number of Google initiatives, including TensorFlow, the software used to build artificial intelligence systems.

Prior to joining Amazon,
