Google has signed a definitive deal to buy Mandiant Inc – a leader in dynamic cybersecurity and response.

This deal would cost $23 per share in an all-cash transaction valued at $5.4 billion, including Mandiant’s net cash.

Mandiant will join Google Cloud after the transaction is completed.

Cyber threats have increased in frequency, severity, and variety, which has resulted in a global security imperative.

Mandiant’s acquisition will add to Google Cloud’s existing security capabilities.

Customers can use Google Cloud to access a wide range of services, including ground-breaking features like BeyondCorp Enterprise for Zero Trust and VirusTotal for harmful material and software vulnerabilities.

Chronicle’s global security analytics and automation, as well as Google Cloud’s Cybersecurity Action Team expertise, are combined with services like Security Command Center to assist enterprises to detect and protecting themselves against cyber threats.

With the purchase of Mandiant, Google Cloud will be able to provide a complete security operations suite with even more features to help customers in both cloud and on-premise environments.

Mandiant as a recognized leader in strategic security advisory and incident response services brings real-time and in-depth threat intelligence gained on the frontlines of cybersecurity with the largest organizations in the world.

Combined with Google Cloud’s cloud-native security offerings, the acquisition will help enterprises globally stay protected at every stage of the security lifecycle.
