Leading foam maker Elite Comfort is planning an expansion to Maryland that will create 225 new full-time jobs over the next three years.
The firm, a subsidiary of Leggett & Platt, intends to expand its foam pouring and fabrication manufacturing capabilities.
The newly leased Harford County Enterprise Zone property in Havre de Grace will be the company’s first manufacturing facility in Maryland.
Governor Larry Hogan said: “Elite Comfort Solutions’ decision to expand its production capabilities to Maryland is a huge gain for our state’s manufacturing industry and the local economy in Harford County.
“We believe this expansion will allow the company to accomplish great things in the area and continue growing its business throughout the East Coast.”
Tyson Hagale, president of bedding products at Leggett & Platt added: “We look forward to continuing to grow Elite Comfort Solutions, and expanding our footprint with this new facility in Maryland will give us the capacity and location to accomplish that goal.”
The Maryland Department of Commerce has authorized a $900,000 conditional loan through Advantage Maryland, previously the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund, to help with project expenditures (MEDAAF).
In addition, Harford County is offering a conditional loan of $90,000 to help with workforce training expenditures.
County Executive Barry Glassman said: “We are excited to welcome Elite Comfort Solutions to Harford County and look forward to the new jobs and training opportunities they will bring to our community. They join a growing list of national brands that have chosen Harford as an ideal place to do business.”
