CVS Health expansion will create more than 900 new jobs in Pennsylvania

CVS Health is bringing new jobs to Pennsylvania as part of a planned expansion.

It plans to create a total of 912 jobs in Luzerne County.

The company announced a $4.9 million investment to modernize and re-purpose its 13,000 square feet distribution center.

This will help the firm to establish a new prescription drug sorting, handling, and packaging operation.

Governor Tom Wolf revealed the news on Tuesday, November 22, calling it a major victory for Pennsylvania.

He said: "This project is going to create and retain good, family-sustaining jobs for folks in Luzerne and Somerset counties.”

CVS Health promised to generate 64 new positions at the Hanover Township site in three years as part of its expansion.

It will retain 848 current workers between the Hanover Township facility and the Somerset Township location at 322 Revco Road.

David Dederichs, Executive Director, Government Affairs, for CVS Health said: "Our new pharmacy distribution facility will expand our operations capabilities and provide meaningful work to hundreds of Pennsylvanians.”

The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) proposed a $192,000 Pennsylvania First grant to the firm.

It aims to train its new employees with a $100,000 workforce development grant.
