More parking attendants will be visible on Cotswold streets when the District Council takes over responsibility for on-street parking enforcement on November 5th.

The move, known as Civil Parking Enforcement, sees the police hand over parking duties to local councils working in partnership with Gloucestershire County Council.

The aim is to keep our roads safe, reduce congestion and keep routes free for emergency vehicles by tackling anti-social parking problems.

District Councils will be the main point of contact for all matters such as permit renewals, tickets (Penalty Charge Notices) and parking appeals.

Strategy development and the implementation of new parking schemes will be the responsibility of Gloucestershire County Council, working closely with the districts.

Cotswold District Council is gearing up for the handover by recruiting more parking attendants and preparing new computer systems.
