Software developer Bluestaq has chosen Colorado for a large-scale expansion that will create hundreds of jobs.

The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade’s Global Business Development (GBD) division has revealed the company plans a major expansion creating 585 new jobs

The average salary for these roles would be $188,208 – 280 percent higher than the average wage in El Paso county.

Bluestaq intends to add 585 net new positions at an average yearly compensation of $188,208, which is 280 percent higher than the average annual wage in El Paso County.

The jobs will comprise engineers, operations staff, and operations managers.

The company currently has 65 employees, all of whom are in Colorado.

Access to talent, affordability of living, proximity to tech and innovation, and the ability to utilize its presence in the community, including investing in workforce development programs, were all important factors in the selection.

The State of Colorado will provide up to $5,570,470 in performance-based Job Growth Incentive Tax Credits over an eight-year period.

Governor Jared Polis said: “We are adding good jobs across Colorado and succeeding in our efforts to be a nation-leading model for aerospace. Bluestaq’s expansion builds on our success and creates hundreds of well-paying, high-quality jobs in El Paso County,”

The US General Services Administration (GSA) awarded Bluestaq a $280 million contract last year to continue work on the US Space Force’s Unified Data Library of space object data.

Bluestaq provides support to other military branches and is ready to expand into commercial aerospace and the healthcare industry in the next years.

Bluestaq’s growth strategy includes prioritizing workforce development opportunities to advance the tech industry’s talent pipeline in partnership with the Colorado Springs community, including the Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC, and Colorado’s higher education and K-12 systems.
