X Use In U.S Drops By More Than 20 Percent After Elon Musk Takeover
The popularity of X, formerly Twitter, in the U.S has dropped significantly since Elon Musk's $44 billion takeover.
Use of the social media app has fallen by more than 20 percent since Musk bought the company and rebranded to X in November 2022.
Since the takeover, the daily users of the app have dropped by 23 percent, as of February 2024.
The reduction is worse than other social media giants, who have also seen drops.
TikTok, which is facing being banned in the U.S, fell by 10 percent.
Facebook and Instragram, owned by Meta, saw a five percent decline, as did Snapchat, which has been making big job cuts in 2023.
Globally, X's user base fell by 15 percent - a total of 174 million, based on findings by Sensor Tower,a data from app-monitoring company Sensor Tower.
Twitter has not officially responded to the findings, but a company post said "250 million people use X every day", with monthly visits reaching 550 million.
