Berkshire Hathaway says workforce has grown by 12,000

Berkshire Hathaway has increased its workforce by 12,000 employees and even recovered some jobs lost during the Covid pandemic.

Reuters reports the insurance and investment company, based in Omaha, Nebraska, says its employment numbers at the dozens of businesses it owns now told around 372,000.

This is a rise from 360,174 at the end of 2020.

The company owns units with large workforces like Fruit of the Loom underwear, McLane food delivery, Clayton Homes, and a number of energy businesses.

Billionaire owner Warren Buffett is set to reveal more about the firm's performance at the end of February, when the company releases its end-of-year results.

Experts believe the full-year operating profit will be larger than the $24.8 billion high of 2018.

Profit in 2020 was $21.9 billion.
