Apple puts brakes on corporate hiring until late 2023

Apple is reportedly pausing hiring for corporate positions across the company.
Three insiders with direct knowledge of conversations at the tech giant said it has halted practically all recruiting.
The firm has said that it will be "deliberate" in its recruiting but has not admitted to freezing hires in specific divisions.

The sources said employees across divisions were informed that the company won’t be onboarding new personnel for several months.
It could last until the end of its fiscal year in September 2023.
Units like retail are still expected to hire salespeople at Apple stores ahead of the holiday shopping season.

One person said Apple had "no budget" for extra manpower for corporate roles in the following year.
The source described the organization as being in a hiring "freeze."
The third person who held a senior-level position at the company said they were informed by a high-ranking divisional leader that "budgets are under review."

Apple has been indicating for some months that it intends to reduce its workforce.
It was reported in August that the corporation had laid off around 100 contract-based recruiters.
Apple has stated that it is taking a careful approach to onboarding new hires.

Apple CEO Tim Cook addressed the company's viewpoint earlier this year during a quarterly earnings call for shareholders.
Mr Cook said: "We believe in investing through the downturn.
“And so we'll continue to hire people and invest in areas, but we are being more deliberate in doing so in recognition of the realities of the environment.”

Hundreds of vacant jobs are now posted on Apple's careers page, and the firm has continued to spend and recruit in content units like sports in recent months.
It was recently reported that Apple had several dozen open posts for content, strategy, and production linked to Apple TV+'s push into live sports programming as of the end of August.
Tech behemoths Meta, DoorDash, and Uber informed employees earlier this year that they will stop or delay hiring for the foreseeable future.
