Adobe employees in the United States were informed on Friday that they must be vaccinated against Covid-19 by December 8 or face being placed on unpaid leave.

In an email to employees obtained by CNBC, Adobe explained that the policy was implemented in response to President Biden’s executive order requiring federal contractors to vaccinate all employees.

According to Adobe’s Chief People Officer Gloria Chen’s email, 93.5 percent of U.S. employees who replied to an internal company poll claimed they were already completely vaccinated or were in the process of getting their series of vaccines.

Chen said Adobe would consider religious and medical exemptions for employees who can’t get the vaccine.

Chen’s email was confirmed by an Adobe spokesman to CNBC. The approach is similar to IBM’s jobs, which warned U.S. employees earlier this month that they would have to be vaccinated or face unpaid leave as a result of Biden’s executive order.
