Spike Brewing has announced plans to build a $9 million production plant in Milwaukee and recruit another 20 people.

The 73,000 square-foot cutting-edge manufacturing facility will be built on a city-owned empty building in the Estabrook Park area.

The new facility will keep the company’s 25 existing staff while increasing its workforce by 80 percent.

The expansion will allow the company to deploy three additional manufacturing lines, as well as provide temporary renting space for another company.

Spike Brewing expects to occupy the entire building in the future as its business expands, with the objective of making the facility 100 percent solar-powered.

Spike will also teach local people on how to brew beer at home in the facility’s cutting-edge test brewery.

They produce brewing kettles, fermenters, brew systems, brewing pumps, electrical panels, and beer chilling devices.

The Milwaukee Redevelopment Authority (RACM) is selling Spike Brewing on this almost four-acre land at 4132 North Holton Street for $1.
