$3.2 million investment in Florida “mega site” will create 11,000 new jobs

A $3.2 million boost to a "mega site" in Florida will see 11,000 jobs created.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' office has announced the investment in Okaloosa County's Shoal River Ranch.

The investment will be used to expand rail lines, roads, and other infrastructure.

Over 4,000 new manufacturing employment and 11,000 overall jobs are predicted to be created in the region.

The additional jobs will more than treble the number of manufacturing jobs available.

He said: “Today’s grant will lay the foundation for a dramatic expansion of manufacturing. Florida is committed to expanding our industrial base and investments, as well as our strong support for skilled trades and workforce education.”

The Florida Job Growth Grant Fund was used to make the investment.

In Florida, this economic development initiative emphasizes workforce development and public infrastructure.

The Giga Site at Shoal River Ranch is expected to generate approximately $47.6 million in economic effect.

Secretary of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Dane Eagle stated that the financing will result in long-term industrial growth.
