10 high-paying tech jobs that don’t need a degree

Virginia’s C2 technologies to bring dozens of jobs to Orlando

Because of coding boot camps, programming courses, and determined high-school graduates, you don’t actually need a college degree to get a high-paying job in the tech industry any more.

According to research from Coding Dojo, someone without a degree can earn up to $96,000.

This is great news for pupils whose internships were canceled, or who were frustrated with many universities’ switch to remote work.

In a poll carried out last month, 34.6 percent of students weren’t sure if the pandemic impacted plans to get a degree, and 3.8% of students ditched all plans for a college degree.

Richard Wang, CEO of Coding Dojo said: “For far too many students and their parents, going to the ‘best’ university is their ultimate goal, but career readiness should be the goal.”

Wang noted that there are too many pupils who go to college without a clear plan and expect to figure out what they want to do.

He said: “The result of this approach can be devastating, with students ending up with thousands of dollars in debt."

The students might have “irrelevant or no degrees at all because they didn’t know why they were going in the first place,” he said, “This stems from students hearing throughout their life that a four-year degree is a key to a successful career, but that’s not necessarily true.”

With numerous US workers still unable to go back to work, it can be a bleak prognosis, particularly for students who are yet to get a career-possible job and feel unsure about their future.
